Mannerberg 43: the ultimate experience of sailing and technology
The Mannerberg 43 named "Monica" was created for an owner who had a very clear idea what he wanted. The design concept for Monica was to create an ultramodern sailboat with all the help from the 21st century’s information technology and latest yacht design development.
Mannerberg 43 is a true sailboat that performs very well in any conditions encountered. The main emphasis has been to make sailing easy and very fast. The deck layout and the interior have been tailored for the purpose of two person holiday cruising and also for some corporate entertainment. The boat will be used in Finnish archipelago, which is great with its natural resources but a hazardous one because of shallow waters. Therefore the navigation system onboard was a great challenge. A lot of effort was put into creating a reliable and accurate navigation and positioning system. As a solution a main computer with an on deck display connected parallel to navigation table display was installed.
The interior of the boat comprises of main saloon with panoramic view from settee area and an inside helm position. The aft cabin is just a double berth with no door "so that the guests don't stay too long" after owner's wish! The main stateroom is forward with a large double bed and with adequate seating and stowage for personal items. The toilet is located aside the main companionway.
The cockpit is just perfect for entertainment and dining outside which is still often possible in sometimes cold Finnish summers. The twin helms are positioned forward just aft of the winches and enable the helmsman to handle the boat by himself. There is one electric winch that is mainly used for pulling up the mainsail. The jib is self-tacking. Sailing is simple with just the wheel to turn and that needs maximum of two fingers, as the balance of the boat is perfect. When the wind picks up there is waterballast to give you the extra speed and less heel. The general feeling onboard is that you are sailing a larger boat than 43 when the ballast is fully operational. The speed increase is substantial not to mention the reduced heel and comfort onboard.
The one often forgotten area of design is the structural strength of a yacht. The Mannerberg concept is to leave no stones unturned in the design and building process. The importance of both a safe and non-compromise structure is one of the main areas where a lot of effort is being put into creating a perfect yacht. The keel attachment to hull is made with fabricated high strength steel structure capable of taking high grounding loads. The general sailing loads are carried by the advanced carbon fiber monocoque structure, which is reducing the bending of the hull to unmeasurable dimensions.
In short the Mannerberg concept of delivering exactly what customer need has again proved to be successful. Non-compromise good sailing boats with extremely strong structure, magnificent sailing experience and practical comfortable interior and decks.
